Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator
The Town of Hardwick, MA is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. This Operator will participate in the operation of all plant treatment processes. Responsibilities include operating pumps, motors, blowers, chemical feed systems, preventative and corrective maintenance and performing basic laboratory analysis, sample collection and process control for an extended aeration and SBR facility. The Operator works under the general direction of the Superintendent of Wastewater Pollution Control. Requirements: high school diploma or equivalent, a valid MA driver’s license, a valid MA grade 4M Wastewater Operators license or the ability to secure this license within 6 months. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; read operations manuals and good verbal skills. Experience with the operation and maintenance of extended aeration and SBR treatment processes a plus. Position is 40 hours/week with rotational weekend, holiday and on call coverage required. The Town of Hardwick seeks a qualified candidate for the full-time position of Town Treasurer. The Town Treasurer performs highly responsible administrative functions involving the receipt, expenditure, recording and custody of municipal funds, the timely investment of funds and the borrowing of money, and maintains the custody of tax title properties, within guidelines established by statute and professional standards.
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or business administration and additional specialized training in municipal finance. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a municipal or public sector financial management office or five (5) years of experience in an accounting office or a combination thereof is required. Experience using VADAR or other mainframe-based public financial software system and a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards and Massachusetts General Laws including Chapter 32 is preferred.

Highway Department Truck Driver/Laborer
The purpose of this position is to provide maintenance on Highway Department vehicles and equipment, and to operate heavy and light motor equipment and perform manual work on construction, maintenance or repair projects of the Highway Department; all other related work as required.
Applicants must have experience in highway/roadway maintenance and construction, including heavy equipment operation. Applicants must possess a valid C.D.L. Class B License with airbrake endorsement and a valid Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer License Class 2A.

- Shall not hold another appointed or elected position in the Town of Hardwick
- Possess good communication skills to work with the publi
- Possess filing skills, attention to detail, ability to follow direction and have general computer skills
- Flexibility to work daytime and minimal evening hours at certain political timeframes during the year that are dictated by Massachusetts General Law.
- This position is on an as needed basis.
