Board of Health

The Board of Selectmen are seeking an individual to fill two vacancies on the Board of Health. Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

The Town of Hardwick, MA is seeking motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. This Operator will participate in the operation of all plant treatment processes. Responsibilities include operating pumps, motors, blowers, chemical feed systems as well as performing preventative and corrective maintenance, basic laboratory analysis, sample collection, and process control for 2 Treatment plants and 3 pumping stations. The Operator works under the general direction of the Superintendent of Water Pollution Control Facilities. 

Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent, a valid MA driver’s license, a valid MA grade 4M Wastewater Operators license or the ability to secure this license within 6 months. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; read operations manuals and good verbal skills. Experience with the operation and maintenance of extended aeration and SBR treatment processes a plus.

Position is 40 hours/week with rotational weekend, holiday and on-call coverage required.

Conservation Commission Seeks New Member

The Town of Hardwick Conservation Commission seeks a new member to fill out an unexpired term. This term will expire 6/30/2019.

This is a volunteer position. Duties include attendance at monthly meetings; preparation for meetings, including review of Minutes and any Applications for Permits or other documents that may come before a meeting; occasional site visits to property owners’ lands to help with making determinations regarding permitting; completing the New Commissioner Orientation program online, provided by the Mass. Assoc. of Conservation Commissions (MACC); and taking classes offered by MACC toward certification as a Conservation Commissioner. These classes help members understand the regulations of the Wetlands Protection Act, which the Commission is mandated to uphold, and tuition is paid by the Commission. The Commission works to educate the public regarding the Act and also assists members of the public in filing the paperwork needed for the permitting process.

Experience or background in environmental science or conservation is preferred.

Part-Time Driver MART

The Hardwick Board of Selectmen is seeking qualified applicants to fill a part-time (as needed) driver position for the Montachusett Area Regional Transportation Program. Board of Registrars

The Hardwick Board of Registrars is seeking an individual to fill a vacant position on the Board of Registrars. The following is the minimum criteria to apply for the position:

  • The individual shall be a registered voter and have been enrolled in the DEMOCRATIC PARTY for a minimum of the last two years
  • Shall not hold another appointed or elected position in the Town of Hardwick
  • Possess good communication skills to work with the publi
  • Possess filing skills, attention to detail, ability to follow direction and have general computer skills
  • Flexibility to work daytime and minimal evening hours at certain political timeframes during the year that are dictated by Massachusetts General Law.
  • This position is on an as needed basis.
  • Attend Board of Registrar meetings on an as needed basis.

Hours worked are on an "as needed" basis. This position is paid on an hourly basis.
